Early morning scenic flight to Lukla — one of the world's most exhilarating mountain flights, with dramatic views of terraced hillsides and Himalayan peaks. Land at the famous Tenzing-Hillary Airport and begin your trek. Follow the Dudh Koshi (Milk River) valley through pine forests and small Sherpa settlements to reach Phakding, your first night on the trail. A gentle introduction to trekking in the Khumbu. 3-4 hours trekking.
Cross suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river and pass through the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. The trail climbs steadily through rhododendron and pine forests, crossing several dramatic suspension bridges. Catch your first tantalizing glimpse of Everest through the trees before the final steep ascent into Namche Bazaar — the bustling gateway to the Everest region and the Sherpa capital. 5-6 hours trekking.
A crucial acclimatization day to let your body adjust to the altitude. Hike up to the famous Everest View Hotel at 3,880m for spectacular panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Visit the fascinating Sherpa Culture Museum to learn about the history and traditions of the legendary mountain people. Explore the vibrant Namche market with its colourful stalls, bakeries, and gear shops. Return to your teahouse for a relaxed afternoon.
Leave Namche and traverse the hillside with constant mountain views. The trail descends to the Dudh Koshi before climbing through beautiful forests to the monastery village of Tengboche. Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery — the largest in the Khumbu region — with its ornate interior and spiritual atmosphere. The setting is one of the most stunning in the Himalayas, with Ama Dablam towering above and Everest framing the skyline. 5 hours trekking.
Descend through rhododendron forest to the river, then climb steadily past the villages of Pangboche and Shomare. The landscape transforms dramatically as you leave the treeline behind and enter the high-altitude desert terrain of the upper Khumbu Valley. Yak pastures and stone walls line the trail as you arrive in Dingboche, a quiet settlement surrounded by towering peaks including Island Peak and Lhotse. 5-6 hours trekking.
Second acclimatization day — vital preparation for the highest sections of the trek. Hike to Nangkartshang Peak at 5,083m for extraordinary panoramic views of Island Peak, Makalu (the world's fifth highest mountain), Lhotse's massive south face, and the dramatic Imja Valley. This is your first time above 5,000m and a wonderful taste of what lies ahead. Return to Dingboche for a well-earned rest and hearty teahouse dinner.
Trek along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier with dramatic views of Nuptse's massive wall. Pass the Dughla memorial — a solemn and moving collection of stone cairns and prayer flags honouring climbers who have lost their lives on Everest and surrounding peaks. The trail climbs gradually to Lobuche, a small cluster of teahouses at the edge of the Khumbu Glacier. Feel the thin air as you settle in for the night. 4-5 hours trekking.
The day you have been dreaming of. Trek to Gorak Shep across rocky moraine terrain, drop your bags, and set off for Everest Base Camp. The trail follows the Khumbu Glacier, weaving through ice formations and boulder fields. Arrive at Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and stand at the foot of the world's highest mountain. During climbing season, the camp bustles with colourful expedition tents. A profoundly emotional and triumphant moment. Return to Gorak Shep for the night. 3 hours to Gorak Shep + 3 hours round trip to EBC.
Rise in the pre-dawn darkness for the crowning moment of the trek. Climb to the summit of Kala Patthar (5,545m) — the highest point of your journey — to witness the most iconic sunrise panorama in the world. Watch as golden light illuminates Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Changtse in a breathtaking 360-degree mountain amphitheatre. Descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast, then continue the long but rewarding descent to Pheriche. Your body will feel the relief of thicker air.
A long but exhilarating descent back through familiar territory. Retrace your steps past Tengboche and through the forests, appreciating the landscapes with fresh eyes and a deep sense of accomplishment. Arrive back in Namche Bazaar for a celebratory evening. Enjoy the comfort of lower altitude, pick up souvenirs, and share stories with fellow trekkers over a well-deserved hot meal. 6-7 hours trekking.
Your final day on the trail. Descend from Namche through the forests and Sherpa villages one last time, crossing the iconic suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi. Arrive in Lukla for your last night in the mountains. Reflect on the incredible journey with your guide and fellow trekkers. The warmth and camaraderie of the teahouse make for a memorable final evening in the Khumbu. 6-7 hours trekking.
